3 x Housing Association Refurb — Buckinghamshire
Thames Valley Housing Association provide over 13,000 affordable homes across London and the South East. Much of their housing stock has ageing heating systems in need of replacement. The Space Air Daikin Altherma monobloc system, was used to replace the heating systems in 2 compact semi detached chalet style 1 bedroom bungalows and a very compact detached 3 bedroom house.
Name of application: Philps Close
Type of application: 1990’s Refurbishment - 3 bed terraced house
Property location: Lane End, High Wycombe
Heating & hot water options: Direct electric
System installed: Daikin Altherma 6kW mono heat pump + 150/200L Storage cylinder
Connecting to: Double convector radiators and towel rail
Reason for selecting Daikin Altherma:
These compact homes required every inch of inside space. The original ‘all direct electric’ heating system took up little space but was inefficient and expensive. The Daikin Altherma 6kW monobloc unit was selected as the outdoor heat pump & the hydro-box boiler components are neatly packed in one outside weatherproofed unit. Only a small 150/200L storage cylinder & piping kit needed to be inside, which replaced the existing larger storage cylinder, freeing up essential cupboard space for the tenants.
